Doctors in Guangzhou announced Monday that a baby was born to a couple from an embryo that had been frozen 16 years ago.

本周一，几名广州医生宣布称，一对夫妻用一个冷冻了16年的胚胎顺利诞下一个婴儿。

The birth marks the longest successful cryopreservation of an embryo in Guangdong Province, reported cyol.com.

据中青在线报道称，此次顺利生产标是广东省跨时最长的一次胚胎冷冻保存案例。

The 45-year-old mother gave birth to her second child - a healthy 3.6-kilogram boy - following a harrowing delivery after she suffered a postpartum hemorrhage.

这位45岁的母亲分娩时大出血，经历了极大的痛苦之后终于生下来了她第二个孩子。小家伙有3.6公斤重，是个男孩。

Both mother and child are in stable condition.

The mother, who was not named, had 18 embryos frozen back in April 2000 at First Affiliated Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University.
